Today is one one those days where I am super glad I bit the bullet and finally got myself an Apple Watch. I was having some weird heart stuff going on yesterday (Suspected SVT) and was advised to go to A&E. Of course in the time I was waiting my resting heart rate returned to normal so to their tests everything was fine.
I had used the ECG app at the time to capture the problem I was having and the doctor actually requested to look at it and has helped me to get some medication and a cardiology referral.
So grateful to have such technology literally on my wrist to help me advocate for my health!
I have SVT too it’s rough, I’m considering the surgery ! It’s gotten worse now that I’m older
Feel for you!! Had another episode yesterday evening, resolving to do as little as possible between now and my appointment with cardiology next week lol
Yeah rough ! Basically 2 options depending on your age, if your older they put you on meds that slow your heart rate and you feel crappy, if your younger they like to do the ablation surgery which is what he wants me to do, I’m still thinking about it ! Good luck at your appointment !
I have heart disease and this is one of the main reasons I bought the Apple Watch. Its ability to monitor our health and alert us to possible problems is phenomenal.
Glad it caught the irregular HR and notified you, so you can n get it taken care of!
My cardiologist used my watch ECG reading to diagnose my heart problem, saved me having to get a holter and hope it occurred while I was wearing it.
At first I assumed stressful Thanksgiving family drama…
I’m a Brit so no drama there just a regular ol thursday haha!
My cardiologist regularly suggests I email his team any EKG readings when I feel off. They see the AW as a tool we can use to better assess and help manage my cardiovascular health.
I have afib and my dr told me to get an AW (if I could afford it). Has been a tremendous daily tool. When we meet, we have data to discuss and formulate strategy, rather than just “everything’s looks looks good”.
My friend, who has no history of heart disease in his family and is in better shape than all of us woke up one day not feeling great. Sure enough his AW told him he was in AFIB and had to go to ER. He has had another incident since. Now he is on meds. This was the push for me to get an AW since I do have heart disease in my family.
