I struggle to understand Mason Mount as a player. He’s not a winger and he’s not a pure 10 either. He doesn’t have a big enough engine to be a good 8.
We got shat on for getting Havertz - ok he hasn’t delivered in goals and assists but at least he’s tall and wins aerial duels and makes off the ball runs.
How does Mount get a pass?
There’s so many other reasons to shit on utd at the moment, and Mount is at the bottom of the list. Havertz is one of our only questionable decisions and possibly Raya, so they get brought up more because it’s all they have against us. Unlike utd, who are a conplete shit show.
yup pretty much it.
even if havertz had more goal contributions theyd still make fun, look at how people shit (occasionally) on gvardiol of all people
I don’t understand ETH over Mount, why would he bring in a player and bench him, he barely even uses him.
I’m really confused by the whole ETH situation. I really rated him (at one point I wanted him over Arteta, oh fool that I am!) and expected him to do a good job at Utd. Though it seems like he is regressing to Ole ball more and more with each passing game. Can’t say he hasn’t been backed.
He regressed back to oleball about 6 games into his tenure
I don’t think you can blame a manager playing negative when they first take over. Look at Arteta’s first season with us. However, you saw that as soon as Arteta was changing things he had a vision in mind. Now, there were definitely times when it was legitimate to question if we were sane to keep following that vision, but Arteta was clearly going for something his players at that point were unwilling to do. I kind of expected something similar from ETH this season, but it doesn’t even seem like they’re transitioning into an ‘ETH team’ at all. It’s like he has completely bottled it which is where I’m quite surprised. Think it also puts into perspective how good Arteta is. Takes balls to stick to his philosophy the way he has.
Mount got POTS twice for Chelsea, Havertz was never even close to nominated
He’s an 8 who was Chelseas best player the last two seasons (and their top scorer for one of them I think) who has been put into a Man u team that has no style, ideas or tactics beynd whack the ball over the top for Rashford and thank god they’ve been paying shit teams in the league so far.
On form he’s a slightly worse Odegaard.
Maybe it’s just me being biased, but I don’t think even Mount at his best was ever as close to Odegaard was last season.
He was Chelseas player of the season in an utterly dire team so I think it’s fair to say importance wise he’s the same level, we’d have to see him in a decent team to be utterly sure but I still stand by the idea he’s an Aldi Odegaard.
He’s an engine who can strike the ball extremely well. Not every player in the team needs to be a silky passer or dribbler so there are plenty of uses for him as the glue to a midfield/attack
Sadly for him, the engine doesn’t mean a whole lot if you’re constantly getting hurt, and it could hurt longevity
