As per the title, I would like to know for sure where the save files are located. I am at my wits end for this one game (The Walking Dead Definitive Edition Season 1)

The story is that I initially had the 64gb eMMC and thus installed the game on the MicroSD card and played the game for a bit. Last week i bought a new 2TB SSD to install and forgot to back up the save files. I left the game on the MicroSD card and just reimaged SteamOS. Once that was done, I moved the game over to the 2TB SSD for presumably faster load times, whereby i discovered that all my progress was gone. I have tried searching the web and so far haven’t been able to definitively locate my save file.

Best answer that i found was in the .local/…/compatdata/207610 folder.

However, when i booted my steam deck again just now using the 64gb eMMC under desktop mode and explored that folder, all i found were symbolic links that would not copy over to my flash drive.

Please help

    The saves are definitely under compatdata, under drive_c and then following the Windows file structure. If all you see is a symlink just follow it and it will show you where the actual files are stored. You should be able to see the destination under the properties of the symlink.

    I bet you used one of those tools that move compatdata to the same device as game files. I think Cryo utilities can do that
