Hello I don’t know if this has been answered or not but I’m thinking of buying a steam deck but valve doesn’t sell it officially here in my country Peru 🇵🇪, there are just resellers which offers their own “warranty” I said like that because never have any experience with them the thing is that the only company that sells their product officially and give a 2 year warranty in my country is asus with the rog ally and sadly in my country a 512gb deck is more expensive than the ally even without any type of warranty, I would like to know if you recommend the deck in my situation, is it reliable enough at this point?, I know of technicals that now work with the deck but it’s not any type of official warranty, what can I do?

Srry for any mistake English is not my main language.

I’m in the same boat as you mate. I’m in Chile and since the release 2 years ago I’m dying to buy a Deck, but seems Valve just don’t want my money.

I decided to wait until august 2024, if by then there is still an official latin american release, I’m going to take the expensive route and by one on amazon, which have a good side: I can pay it up to 3 payments or pay it full with my credit card and pay the credit card up to 12 payments. I won’t lie: it’s going to be a risky move, because if something goes wrong, I’ll have to pay to send it back for warranty, and that could be as much as 200 USD, but I think the Deck is worth the risk.

DON’T go for the Ally. It may seems like a better handheld but it’s NOT. You shouldn’t base your gaming experience only on raw power. What Valve has done with the Deck is something unique that can NOT be replicated by the Ally, the Legion Go, or any other handheld PC. Steam OS is in constant update so it only gets better and better over time…
