Sharing this in case it helps someone else who opens their deck to find it not powering on or even having a light when plugged in.

Today I got my new OLED deck and it would not power on. I got no light next to the power when I plugged it in. Since I had an LCD model too I tried its power cables and left this one for several minutes to see if the batter was just totally drained. I feared the worst but due to having been in my LCD I wasn’t afraid to try disconnecting and reconnecting the power as a test before contacting Valve. Here is what I did and it fixed the problem.

  • Open the deck like you are going to replace the SSD.
  • Disconnect the battery cable like you would when replacing the SSD. While the cable is out hold the power button for 7 sec - idk why I did this but maybe it will help further drain the power of it had any. It might not be needed but since I did it and my deck was fixed I hesitate to leave it out of my guide.
    • You might have to use a tool or tweezers if the power cable isn’t coming out easy.
    • Be careful with that back plate and the ribbon.
  • Once you have that done put it all back together - DO NOT attempt a test with anything not back how it was.
  • Plug it in and wait a few minutes. You should note the power button now works and maybe you will now hear a sound. You can then test powering it on.
  • If any of this fails contact support. But it worked for me and I have been playing all day.
    • Since I had it all apart I moved my 2TB drive over. I also noted it asked for a new firmware update for the official dock that it didn’t ask for on my LCD. Could be OLED specific. I also think the power cable is longer than the one on the LCD… being random, sorry.

Good luck!!
