Hey, I’m struggling to fit my new drive belt on my 05 cooper. I thought of turning the crank with the help of a small wrench (I dont have access to all the right tools). I managed to turn it for about a full turn and then it just got too hard. I read that this may be because the crankshaft is now in the compression phase, and that removing the spark plugs could help with this? What other ways could I help it spin more freely? Clockwise ofc.

Jack one wheel off the ground, place it in a high gear such as 4th (if it’s a manual) and turn the wheel in a forward direction and the engine will turn. Taking spark plugs out will also make it easier to turn.
