Maybe they decided moving the elements was unnecessary? Testing on my own phone it seems like there are places that are almost always lit regardless of how they move around (Clock, Mute and Battery icon don’t move enough to not overlap). And before getting rid of my previous Z Flip 3 (which I got on launch and got rid of on the launch of the Z Flip 5) I tested and there wasn’t even the slightest hint of burn in. My Pixel 3a had it really bad in no time. Maybe there’s something else going on under the hood? Reduced brightness of those elements? - by default they’re on a black background, so they don’t need to be super bright. Maybe OneUI 5 had the alternative mitigation but still moved the icons until they could prove whatever else they were doing was working but with OneUI 6 they’re happy that alternative mitigation is enough? In my opinion, unless we see phones with status bar burn we can’t say this is actually an issue.
