I’m looking at buying my first car and found a 2011 BMW 328i, I don’t know anything about BMW’s and I want to know if it is pretty reliable or not? I found a lot of mixed results online.

BMW especially the newer ones with the B series engines (B47 and B48 for 2.0, B57 and B58 for 3.0) are extremely reliable and will last many many years when treated correctly

With that being said, it’s still a 13 yrs old car which you know nothing about, a BMW is a great car when treated correcly but when treated poorly it’s a money pit. You should get a newer BMW imo

Why do you want your car to be a 13 year old Germany luxury car? And when you know nothing about them. Maybe go with something newer and more reasonable for your first.

Second post on this sub I’m commenting this on in 1 minute.

Do not buy a german shitbox as your first car. Unless you want to forcibly induce car ownership hatred into your psyche. End of discussion.

The thing about BMW is you dont want to own a first generation model. The 2011 is the last model of that generation so its likely the most solid version of the components. Thats also when it still had the strong 6 cylinder engines before the 4 cyl turbo started. Mileage matters for sure and location as well. If its a hot climate the seals and gaskets could be a problem for leaks. I think it would be a great first car and a way for you to fall in love with how BMW drives.
