Wanna play spiderman, halo , god of war and Forza horizon, and anything emulated on a single console? With minimal technical know how?

Such a smart move by Valve. They’ve converted me into a pc gamer first, and a steam gamer as well.

I’ve been gaming exclusively on consoles for the past decade, I bought my SD two weeks ago and I just can’t put it down. I’m completely in love with it.

My guy, everyone knows the steamdeck was really for people like me who want to make cowboy hats from human skin harvested upon butchering of slaves captured from raiding parties.

To me the steam deck feels like a console that’s prehacked. You have all your normal s*** and game mode but then when you go to desktop mode you have the Homebrew channel which is called the Discovery store Plus you can sideload things which is where you download something not from the discover store.

Steam has always been able to turn your PC into a console Well at least since they introduced big picture mode and they decided what if we went the other way around Make a console that will allow you to turn into a PC?

I only major complaint with the steam deck is that sometimes I can’t get a game to run no matter which version of proton I select.

Same. Never emulated this heavily before. I’m even going so far as to get some of my switch titles running on it

One of the biggest gets for me too has been having most of the modern fromsoft titles on a handheld

Ha. My buddies who have stayed in PC for many years have me so much shit for getting a steam deck and then emulating on it. Something song the lines of “you should have bought a real pc instead of spending a bunch of money just to emulate.” Sure, because playing Tears of the Kingdom and Thousand Year Door on Steam Deck locks me out of my steam library I’ve had since 2007? 🙄

No judgement but if you’re buying a Steam Deck to play triple A modern games you’re really missing out. PS5 or Series X/S are a superior experience.

If that’s your cup of tea that’s fine, but the deck shines for playing indie games IMO. And emulation, playing the old Fire Emblem games for the first time is amazing.

Games I always want to play but not worth taking the living room TV, no problem play on the deck kids get TV.

If not by exclusives it might stand alone be better than any console

Better controls, more games, better prices, better options, more customization etc etc.

You can argue against performance but If most people play on Nintendo switch they cannot complain IMO

    I mean, kind of.

It doesn’t play new games which is kind of a bummer. But anything from the PS4 Era plays like a dream.

There’s only so much you can physically do with a mobile CPU - balancing power usage, heat production, price, size, weight, etc.

Almost all the issues with new games - BG3, Starfield, etc. are CPU bound.

    It achieved that for me.

I got a steam deck when it came out and then earlier this year built my dream pc.

Haven’t turned on a console in at least 6 months.
