I’ve see photos of people who have screen burn on the older LED Decks and I’m worried that will happen to me while I have the Deck docked to wired internet while I download/install very large games. If I manually turn the screen off, the download automatically stops.

Is there a way, maybe somewhere in settings, to have the screen turn off but still allow downloads? Or some other method of installing large games without risking screen burn?

If the Deck uses a similar panel as the Switch OLED, you don’t really have to worry about it. For some peace of mind, just turn the brightness down.

No one has legitimately had burn in on a Steam Deck LCD. Might have had some image retention, but honestly not sure how they would have managed even that much. Modern OLEDs are also far more resilient than people think. RTINGS has done multiple tests on this subject, spanning years, and one YouTuber just made headlines for finally causing burn in on a Switch OLED after two solid years of displaying the same static image. Just don’t do that, and you’ll be fine.
