I’m new to this Özil matter. I’m not really sure what he did or said. None of the sources online don’t seem to provide clarifications. From all I know, he’s a revolutionary player in modern football and always seemed like a nice guy to me

    1. A lot of people had problems with his attitude when he was playing. He always seemed like he was lacking motivation.

    2. Made the famous pic with Erdogan. While Gundogan apologized for taking it, Ozil called everyone who criticized him for it a racist and islamophobic.

    3. Had Erdogan as his best man at his wedding

    4. As a tattoo with a symbol of the grey wolves. They’re a nationalistic, racist and far right organization.

Ozil as a player was class, as a human being he’s not so great I guess

In defense of him alot of that stuff happened in 2018. Before that Ozil was a great member of German national team and won wc with them. He thought everybody would respect him, but after 2018 we saw Trump and alot of far right growing in the world. I think after wc 2018 somebody may have rubbed him the wrong way, and he responded by doing all of that. He was always a quiet person before those events. To me the clearest evidence of their being some racism in the national team at the time was the exclusion of Leroy sane. Before his acl injury he was one of the best 1v1 dribblers in the world on arguably the best team (man city). I honestly see no other excuse to exclude him other than maybe inexperience.

He was greater as a human being who took stands In this industry you need a lack of spine to succeed
