I just watched the entire video, and Taki has shut down the entire internet with his argument. So much criticism has been directed at the anti-reflective panel, yet it turns out to look exactly the same in darkness and under normal indoor lighting conditions. Blacks, colors, everything is identical. It’s only when you reflect your face, your window, or a light directly onto the screen that the areas around the light source lose a bit with the anti-reflective panel. On the other hand, with the glossy screen, the reflected area is not visible, and you can’t enjoy the full image on your screen.
The same happens outdoors, for instance, under a tree with sunlight. The glossy screen is very bothersome because it constantly shows more reflections than the actual game. So, having slightly deeper blacks is pointless due to this issue. In contrast, he says that with the anti-reflective screen, you can still comfortably play despite challenging conditions, and the reflections are not annoying.
He then recommends that you buy the one that interests you based on your budget, but he essentially positions the anti-reflective option as superior because it is identical under normal conditions and offers the extra benefit of being playable in challenging conditions.

You seem to be pushing hard that etched is better based on one person’s opinion. I will have to see in person. You can’t say things like “absolutely false” yet. It’s too early and this is based on one person’s opinion.
I am very dubious about this but also not majorly bothered. There’s a reason OLED panels are glossy and not matte.
What the takeaway should be is that if you are going to be playing under strong light a lot get the etched and if not get the glossy (unless you want more storage)
I owned etched 512gb LCD for over a year. I intentionally bought glossy this time around. It’s not for everyone.
I’m one who likes glossy for everything OLED and own an OLED phone, watch, TV, monitor, laptop, and now Steam Deck. I bought the etched version and put a glossy protector over it and got annoyed by the reflections and took it off. There was next to no percetible color difference between the two. The screen looks fantastic with etched glass still and is comparable to my other OLED products
I agree, one person’s view is not the absolute truth. Glass is definitely more transparent than frosted glass and is an industry standard for OLED panels. It bothers me to get an OLED Deck and not benefit fully from its rich colors and deep blacks so I chose glossy, but I understand those who wish to reduce a bit of glare and are making a tradeoff for slightly worse clarity. Also, I had the etched LCD Deck but definitely preferred a friend’s glossy display. It’s just so crisp and clear.
