I just updated to 3.5.5 recently, and I noticed a big difference from the screen quality. I’m not sure what exactly.

I know that they added Display Colors adjustment, but I didn’t expect that it made the screen look better in my opinion.

Sadly I don’t have any comparison images from the old updates. In my eyes, it just look more vibrant and more contrast. A lot better than the VibrantDeck plugin.

I find this really interesting, since I thought that the LCD Deck will just “abandoned” and disregarded by people or by Valve. Obviously, OLED will always looks better, but this update also affected LCD version in a good way.

Any thoughts about this?

Im sure if they could make the lcd screen look that good, i think they can release an update to do something similar to the oled screen.

I play mine docked the majority of the time. Maybe I should check our the small screen prior to ordering the OLED…

Well is it just me that thinks all the games now look like they are out from Disney Pixar?

The colours are way too vibrant and saturated now … I was happy with my dull screen… I mean Days Gone now looks like an avenger game.

Is there a way to change the colour saturation?

Valve isn’t Apple, they don’t abandon their hardware. They’re still releasing firmware updates to the Steam Link box that they released in 2015 and discontinued in 2017, that’s their level of commitment.

Yes. Vibrant Deck was a huge improvement over stock, and the built-in color adjustment in 3.5.5 looks significantly better than that did. In fact it looks so much better that comparing a brightly lit SDR game between LCD with 3.5.5 and saturation turned up and OLED, the difference is not as striking as you might expect.

And I don’t know why you expect Valve to “abandon” the LCD deck. First of all, they are still selling it. And second, they made the OLED compatible with the LCD, so that both can be supported simultaneously.

Also it’s an emerging platform so it’s in their best interests to not ‘abandon’ the early adopters. Valve has a winner on their hands with the Deck and I can’t wait for the next gen model in a few years.

Right? I was playing Fallout 3 and noticed that the colors looked a bit better. The reds on a street cone had a bit more like to it. I thought it I was making it up.
