I was sent a video from one of my mates that consisted of Portsmouth’s best Premier League goals. A player that popped up a few times in the video was Sulley Muntari, during that brilliant 07/08 season for Portsmouth, scoring banger after banger. He then left for Inter Milan the following season. I thought to myself he’s got to be up there for one of the best players to have only played one season in the Premier League…
…until I remembered he had a short loan spell at Sunderland in 2011.
So I’ve been wracking my brain thinking of who are the best players to have only played one season in the premier league? As in literally only played one season in the Premier League, no moving to another premier league team later on in their career (e.g Ravanelli) and no one season wonders who played slightly longer than one season (e.g Michu) and so far I just have…
- Tiago (Chelsea 04/05)
- Esteban Cambiasso (Leicester 14/15)
So if anybody has any other suggestions for the best one season only premier league player, I’d love to hear them!
Jon Dahl Tomasson
Zava
Past his prime but Suker played for Arse
and West Ham 00-01.
Luc Nilis
I know he had two stints but both was only about 2 months long: Landon Donovan
Got to be James Rodriguez… Still feels like a dream.
Every Chelsea signing last season that departed this season
Landon Donovan played 17 glorious games for Everton and was absolutely fantastic. Would’ve signed him permanently but the MLS blocked the move.
Keylor Navas up there maybe
AJ
Fernando Hierro spent the final season of his playing career at Bolton.
Vincenzo Montella
Player with the most success that only played a season in the PL has to go to Alvaro Negredo in my honest opinion. Won the league cup and PL that season
Negredo played for Middlesborough in 16-17
Gerard Piqué
Julio Baptista is one.
