What are the advantages of premium tyres? I didn’t get any longer out of them than my usual budget tyres. How do I justify the extra expense? I presume it is performance related but I’ve never accidentally had a slide with budget tyres. Maybe stopping distance? Where would I find the figures on that?

Better grip, both in good and bad conditions.

Which can very often be the difference between crashing and avoiding a crash.

Remember tyres are the only thing keeping the car on the road.

If you drive in any sort of challenging conditions (rain/snow) it’s a night and day difference during spirited driving. If you simply daily your car and have a temperate climate, you’re less likely to see any benefit from high end tires. I wouldn’t use the cheapest available, but premium tires are typically overkill outside of a sports car or off-road vehicle.

I had a V6 mustang with cheap ass tires and that thing would slide all over the place. When I got a new car, I decided I’d treat it right with premium tires and it simply refuses to slide on me unless I really try
