As a dual citizen that used to be a die hard fan of the German NT, I really stopped giving a shit about them in the course of the last few years. They are just too frustrating to watch. No dedication, no energy, no game plan. Unexplainable coaching decisions. Good thing that Austria is finally a team I enjoy watching under Rangnick. God, was it awful under Foda.
The result today is really no surprise. It was clear that Austria would play like it’s a World Cup final and they are a legit team. Can’t win against an opponent like that with the German approach of “when someone passes to me, I’m just going to wait until the ball reaches me to save energy”.
