Oof… If you financed it through TMMC and got the runaround on a refund this may interest you.
TLDR: Toyota Motor Credit Corp agreed to pay $48 million in consumer redress and $12 million to the Victims Relief fund.
TMCC would only give me $1K rebate if I financed through them. So I did and when I got my registration I went to my credit union and refinanced at a lower rate and cheaper comparable extended warranty.
Happened to us when we asked them for title / lien to register our car in Massachusetts. They kept delaying for one reason or the other, and customer service suggested us to just pay it off to get title instead and faster. This was shady as they want us to pay off now that interest rates are high?
I didn’t get a rebate, but they did get me the lowest interest rate of a handful of different banks/credit unions.
Haven’t asked for a refund of any kind though. But my dealership went through with me on the different warranties (which was much appreciated because it was my first new car)
