Petrolheads are not as legion. Cars are seen as nuisance and they truthfully are a nuisance in our cities with their noise and chemical pollution while taking too much of space. It makes sense that Top Gear is cancelled while the end of an era is happening.
I suppose the popularity of the show is also declining due to the current climate about cars.
