England has tons of talent, but he still has them playing timidly. He should be very aggressive with a front line of Kane, Foden and Bellingham.
Plus he keeps playing his favorites (Maguire, Henderson) that shouldn’t be in the squad.
Hes top because of all the players that are coming up for England. With a different coach, England would be world cup champ, and Euro champ. My opinion 🙂
I think England are just at their level,I’d say England has two world class players ,Kane and Bellingham,a couple more who could become world class and the rest are all solid 7/10’s in the premier league,the fact that the premier league is the best league in the world doesn’t equate to England being at the top level.A ridiculous easy qualification process doesn’t help them either to be honest.

He should have been replaced a while ago. Guy always makes questionable squad picks, which wouldn’t be a big deal if they had consistent results, or even looked consistently good. This squad may have the best attackers in all international football, if not it is damn close. Depth in the attacking half is crazy good for this team to have been so lacking in attack under Southgate.

People love to hate on England managers. I literally can’t remember a time where people liked the manager for more than one summer. Southgate is probably more respected by the British public than any other manager from the last 20 years, and by that I mean not very respected.
As soon as England play elite opposition they crumble. It’s been a joy to watch this man squander one of the best national teams your country has ever produced.
You can respect what he has done yes (2018-2021). But he’s the weak link in the England team now. Another golden generation will be wasted under a poor coach.
Could Southgate get a top job in club football if he wanted to? I don’t think so.
He’s not a top manager. This is England’s most talented generation in a while and he’s squandering it.
I can’t see many managers of top clubs wanting to manage England, or any national team. It’s usually a retirement job or one that goes to a less experienced manager.
I honestly believe he doesn’t get enough stick and that makes me happy, because he stays in charge.

McClaren didn’t even qualify with the Golden generation. Capello got destroyed by Germany.
