Hi guys. After a lifetime with iPhone I am considering switching to Android with Samsung Galaxy taking advantage of Black Friday.

What are the advantages and disadvantages? I would buy S23 Plus. It should cost around €750.

I currently use iCloud to keep my photos, notes, contacts, etc. safe. I do not have Apple Watch, but I have a Mac mini M1.

Is anyone familiar with both systems and can tell me about them in detail? Does this make sense or should I stay on iPhone?

Let’s say iOS is a bit boring, sometimes cumbersome, but I don’t know if the grass is greener on the other side.

    Do not get the s22 as your first Samsung, S23 if anything, and S21 ultra if you’re on a tighter budget and don’t mind a larger phone.

    If you only use your phone for social media and regular stuff then stick to the iPhone, Android will be an overkill for you.

    Plus, you hot a Mac, you should really stick to iOS.

    Android things: modded apps (Revanced YouTube, modded social media for extra features, ability to get any app version or even pirate an app easily), adjustable camera settings, better display, easy connection to all devices (except apple), cheaper accessories, Samsung’s Secure Folde, easy screen castong to all smart TVs, etc…

    If you don’t see yourself doing any of the above-mentioned, don’t bother.

    In 2023, both sides are equally competent options. If you live in the US, the iMessage supremacy is real and theres no Android alternative. If you live anywhere else, it makes no difference. All the apps you want are on both iOS and Android. Cameras, battery life, screen resolution … all pretty much the best you can get on both sides (dont let the hardcore fanboys sway you). If you previously use your Mac to answer phone calls and made FaceTime calls, you may miss that continuity between your phone and Mac.

    Just head over to trygalaxy.com on your iPhone to get a feel for the UI.

    I have an iPhone 12, have used a Galaxy S9, so it’s been a while. I think if you get an android you’ll have more fun customizing your phone. I like iOS over One UI, at least back when I had my S9. I’m sure it got better.

    If you get a watch, I think they look better than the Apple Watch

    Please just get a Pixel, unless you absolutely care about raw power. The lack of polish on Samsung will make you regret the switch and you’ll think Android is still shit.

      Lack of polish? I had to get rid of my Pixel 6 Pro after 6 months because it was so glitchy and bad.

      Google makes shit hardware, hands down. They use the lowest bidder and put 0 effort, and after that, they discontinue it.

      Don’t buy a pixel.

      Thanks for the reply, I have read opposing testimonies. They say Pixel is much more problematic than Galaxy because it has significantly lower performance, battery that lasts much less, and is significantly more likely to suffer from severe overheating.In reality, isn’t it?

    Staying ln iPhone depends on your usage. Here in my country, people are into Facebook a lot, so the main online messaging app being used is Messenger.

    Check the apps you’re currently using if they’re compatible with android phone. The iCloud for example, you can only access the website thru browser but not as an app.

    For mac mini m1, how productive are you into using your phone when you’re on your mac? If you can give up on the seamless sync/transfer of data from iphone to mac and vice versa, then it’s okay to get an android phone.

    I just bought a s23 ultra and have a 15 pro max I just transferred all my photos and contacts via icloud it was pretty easy and fast but for apps u gotta download it yourself and key in your details :) also s23 ultra feels smoother/faster for the app animations no regrets so far

    I’ve never used Android, but I would say that sideloading is a significant advantage. Android has a better file system, more apps, and it is less susceptible to government control due to its more open nature. More reasons here.

    If you get it from a carrier, you get 3 days to return typically. You might have to eat $50 in a restock fee, but could always go back if you don’t like it.

    Samsung has pretty much everything iPhone has but you have choice. Backup photos via Google, One Drive or Samsung. Need messaging with read reports, high quality photos/videos and video calls Samsung does all that via RCS and google meet and with Apple adopting RCS next year you won’t miss a beat with your iPhone friends. Want to track your devices for location and lock them out if stolen also a Samsung feature. Want to pay with your phone or watch? Samsung does that. Wanna use your s23ultra as a computer while plugged into a monitor Samsung does that. Wanna take a quality picture of the moon Samsung does that. Want to have a simple Google pixel like homescreen just download a custom launcher and bam operates like a Google pixel. Remote play gamepass or PlayStation, works like a charm and looks amazing on the best OLED display in a smart phone. Will some apps have issues sure developers have to make it work for countless devices not just 5 but it’s rare and every app I use works as good or better than the iPhone version. I have converted my wife and some her friends to android/Samsung and they love it.

    I am an apple fan boy, like my entire house is just apple products. Recently switched to the Z Fold 5 and it took me 2-3 days to set everything up but I can use imessage, FaceTime, find my friends and all the other apple exclusive stuff on my android as well.

    There is no which phone is better, it depends on your use and needs
