Hello!
I’ve been mulling over an upgrade for a bit as I’ve been on my S10+ for about 4 years now. I also have a pair of galaxy buds + that I’ve had for 3 years, and a galaxy watch 4 that I’ve had for 2. All of the devices I’m looking to buy are unlocked.
So I’m looking at potentially a whole group upgrade depending on prices. Most important for me to upgrade right now is the phone and earbuds as the battery are going bad on those two as of now. I’ve been looking at Samsung’s website for some of the Black Friday deals and I’ve come up with a few ideas to upgrade.
I could get one of either the S22 Ultra in Certified Renewed condition for around $500, The S23 FE for about $380, or the S23 Ultra for $900. This is just for the phone. Packaging them with upgraded buds and a new galaxy watch gets me $600 for the S23 FE, Buds FE, and the watch 6. $850 for the S22 Ultra, Buds 2 Pro, and the watch 6. Finally $1160 for the S23 Ultra, Buds Pro 2, and watch 6. I could cut the watch from some of these packages and make it even cheaper if the upgrade from the Watch 4 to the Watch 6 isn’t too crazy of a difference.
(This is all factoring in trade ins of previous device(s))
I tend to keep my devices for a good while and I like to get the best value for my money. Does anyone have suggestions of what would be the best buy right now? Could even be on different storefronts.
Thank you!
Let me tell you about the watch first. I upgraded from the Galaxy Watch 4 to the Galaxy Watch 6. I don’t feel like there’s anything new. I don’t use my watch for workouts- I only use it to tell the time and get notifications. It’s a meaningless update, in my opinion.
Secondly, I updated from the S21 Ultra to the S23 Ultra. In terms of camera and performance, there wasn’t much of an update (unless you play games like Genshin Impact then you’ll feel the increase in frame rates). Battery life, on the other hand, has been amazing. If there’s one big reason I would recommend anyone buy the S23 Ultra, it’s the battery life. I regularly get 7-8 hours of screen-on time (Reddit, YouTube, internet browsing, light gaming for 20 minutes, and listening to music over my Galaxy Buds Live, navigation for 30 minutes a day). I know it’s pricier but it’s a worthwhile upgrade especially for someone who doesn’t update their phones too often.
That’s just my two cents.
I appreciate the detailed response! That is completely fair about the watch and really what I was honestly wondering about. I also use my watch like you mainly for notifications, the time, and I occasionally use a few of the trackers but not super intensely. Probably will keep my watch 4 unless an amazing deal pops up on Black Friday itself.
As for the phone that battery life sounds amazing! I mostly do similar activities on it that you do (plus an emulator here and there) so that screen on time sounds crazy. If it’s that much better than the previous gen I might lean towards the s23u and with a buds upgrade then
I tend to go back and forth on my purchasing decisions lol
Just buy the s23 not fe
Weirdly enough, the cost of both the s23 and s23 plus in the same amount of storage as an s23u makes it cost almost as much as the s23u on sale. That’s even with a trade in.
