Still don’t know why the fuck we loaned him to a Pulis team anyway. I don’t think it was his (Pulis) fault, but like damn…we could have found a team and manager more suited to him.

i agree; sometimes sending a player to a Club with a different ideology / playing style is a great learning curve - in theory at least.

We sent Jack to Bolton and it worked out superbly, if you know the player has the skills but you want to work on things like team work and playing to a system west brom made perfect sense.

People keep forgetting he was coming back from an ACL then. The lad was flying until he got badly injured and needed game time along with Miyaichi if I remember correctly.

Till now you can tell we didn’t exactly set context up for Pulis. Arsene’s fault imo

The reaction to Gavi/pedri/fati injuries kinda reminds me of what arsenal fans were going through in that era. Between 2010-2014 Miyaichi, Gnabry, Wilshere, Ox, Ramsey, Walcott all missed significant time due to some serious injuries.

The ones that managed to get back to the top level took years to get there. Makes you wonder if we’ve been harsh on ESR…

Worst decision from the club’s side, sending a creative attacker to Tony fucking Pulis. I think that was what made Gnabry decide he couldn’t trust how he was being managed at Arsenal and moved on quickly afterwards and I don’t blame him for that.

gnabry CHOSE west brom himself. a few clubs were lined up and arsenal let him chose a club. he chose west brom and for some reason we agreed.

Read this back in the day when it happened. dont remember the journo but it was someone that is usually credible, i remember.

I brought this up some time ago regarding Gnabry. He wanted to stay and had discussions with Wenger, when he came back from the U21 world cup or whatever it was, he wanted to leave. And this is where it’s getting interesting with Bayerns involvement.

Love how there isn’t the slightest acknowledgement that maybe they were wrong and missed something when it came to Gnabry.

All his success is apparently due to the kick up the backside and finally realising you have to work hard to make it.

Bayern were super keen on him before he even went to Werder. Much better talent ID than West Brom and evidently Arsenal at the time.

My guess is that Gnabry was still coming back from ACL and seriously lacking in self confidence in his game.

he would have the same attitude no matter the club he was loaned to. wenger was loaning him out because he no longer had any faith in him as a talent. maybe wenger and pulis were right and that rejection was the kick up the arse that he needed. if wenger persisted with him maybe he stays comfortable and ends up like reiss nelson, just happy to say you play for arsenal.
