Hey gang, I’m having a clutch issue with my civic Si. I know everyone says they baby their cars, but I seriously baby this thing and have done so since I bought it at 39k miles 6 years ago. No burnouts or improper clutch work and not my first manual car. As far as I know, the clutch is original to the car.

Anyways, today started as a normal day for me. Woke up and went to work with no issues. Drove the 20 miles to work, and then a 200 mile round trip for my workday today. Everything was hunky dory, until my colleague and I got off the freeway exit near work when we noticed a strange noise coming from my transmission when I had the clutch pedal fully depressed. It sounded like a low growl that persisted until I let the clutch out. Got back to work and checked the clutch fluid level and it was smack dab between max and min. Left work to go home and then my car started making a high pitch squealing noise(not dissimilar to a bad belt) when I had the clutch fully depressed. I also noticed that the pedal had a vibration and felt like gravel when pressing and releasing to go along with the terrible sound, as well as idle RPMs dropping when fully depressed-even with the shifter in neutral. I’m thinking that perhaps a clutch spring broke or the throwout bearing is about to give up, but I thought I’d share my experience here to see what others have to say.

IMO 157k clutch is due to replacement, but diag isn’t possible without more info and as funny as it sounds hearing the problem helps immensely. Good luck

You arent wrong in the slightest, but it would have been nice to make it through the winter or at least the holidays!

No rest for the weary I suppose.
