That way you can have multiple usb connectors on the go or connect to a additional monitor. And if you dont need it just take it of the deck. Fits the dynamic nature of the deck :)

Heard something about the new dock supporting VRR? Idk if the aftermarket docks support that now

My official dock still chews up audio randomly when connected to my tv. Not sure if my dock is defective or if the tv is just junk.

However, now that Steam Deck supports VRR, I’m waiting for a dock to be released that supports VRR over HDMI. Even the official dock apparently only supports VRR over DisplayPort…

No matter what model you go with, I recommend looking for a dock that has a “cup-shaped” divot that holds the Steam Deck itself, as opposed to the ones that the Steam Deck sits flush into. That way, there’s extra room to support a case if you choose to use one.
