You can just use the built-in controls. You could also use an external controller if you wish

I don’t play Mario would hack yets… but I’ve played plenty of Pokémon ones on it. You will be fine nothing extra is needed just the rom or mod files

I have most mario switch games on my deck. Controls are good on the deck and if external I use my ps5 controller. No issues
