Is this normal? I was at my local car dealership and saw a batch of various Mazdas that got off loaded, majority had paint swirls all over from factory, is that even possible?
I look at my Mazda and it scratches…
Someone definitely washed the car without proper care or they used cheap covers to protect them during delivery. Anyway, Mazdas don’t have a good reputation in terms of paint durability and scratch resistance. I had a black Mazda 6 that got horrible scratches by just looking at it. Two workmates had a soul red and a white CX5 which got lots of scratches and swirls the first weeks of use, without even washing the car. I don’t remember my old Toyota Corolla scratched so easily. I currently drive a white Peugeot 3008 which has a much better paint quality. If you want to keep a Mazda in pristine conditions, you gotta use good washing products and be extremely careful with your car.
Could it be a wax or something to protect from salt water / salty air?
I work for a UK manufacturer, paint defects do leave the factory gates unfortunately, and Mazda paint isn’t the best. It’s better than whatever the hell the shit they paint Tesla’s with is, but it’s not great, it is fixable though at that point.
Yes the first thing you should do is get paint correction after delivery. Just go to a quality detail shop. Night and day difference for the soul red 3 I got after that paint correction was done. Also in general I would never allow a dealership to wash my car.
What exactly is paint correction? I’m thinking of getting PPF on our 2021 Soul Red front end/hood/fenders. Do they usually do that before the PPF?
Mazda paint is absolute dog shit. It chips and scratches crazy fast. My cx5 has 8500 miles and it has atleast 10 chips in the front end.
Blame the dealer personnel not the factory.
Every time I take mine in for service I make them put a “NO WASH” tag on my keys so they don’t mess up my paint
Straight from dealer to shop for full PPF. The shop even gave me some scraps of PPF to put on the front to avoid any damage in transit.
It’s amazing how bad dealerships are at washing cars
