Will not start after sitting overnight when cold. Just replaced battery last year, and when I did they said the old one was “fine,” not perfect, but shouldn’t have an issue starting a car.

Once I get it jumped, it runs fine, and will start again later in the day, usually without issue, so, sitting in work parking lot for 8-10 hours isn’t an issue, even when cold.

When I go to start in morning, it sounds like it wants to go for about 4-5 cranks and then battery starts to die off. Put jumper pack on it, shows 12.4-12.3 at first, crank and it drops into 11s, 10s, 9s. Won’t start.

Put another vehicle on it to jump, fires right up. Better yet, put in garage and throw a battery charger on it, it shows full in about 90 seconds, then car fires right up without issue.

Checked all fuses for parasitic, drawing about 80 ma, replaced ground strap which was pretty much solid corrosion, cleaned terminals…

    You have a bad battery.

There are a million reasons as to why that battery didn’t last a year, but let’s start with these questions:

    1. Do you drive the car every day?

    2. When the car is driven, how long is your typical drive (time, not miles)

    3. What brand is the battery?
