Why he got the opportunity to play against and watch some of the best players in the world lmao, if it was a gk for a top nation or even one with a full professional team then I’d get it but it’s Gibraltar.

Don’t, I think most people would be thrilled to play against famous world class players if you’re an amateur. Even if you get battered, that’s expected.

Understandable, but imagine getting to travel the world with your mates and not be expected to be any good, no brainer for me

Pele, who scored over 1200 goals has oftenly been ignored by European media over the argument that “he scored goals in friendly matches, those goals shouldn’t count. Therefore he has only around 750 goals”

I don’t see anyone talking that about Gibraltar who took 14 goals, something that never happened during Pele’s so called friendly matches.

No one calls Euro a Farmers league.

Yet, here you have it. France scoring 14 goals against an amateur team. Should this match count? Or can I count Pele’s goals and matches too?

Does a French count this match?

    🇧🇷 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I used to be in the army with his dad. Bloody good bloke. Bet he is too. He played very well but the defense seemed to be missing/overawed. Sending off obviously didn’t help. We live, we learn, we move on and improve.

I get that it’s a cool experience for them to play against top players, but I still don’t understand how they’re even in UEFA. If they were there own country, like San Marino etc., I’d understand but it’s literally just a British territory. It has about as much a claim to be there as the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

You could say the same about the home nations tbf but I think for the UK, nationhood is fairly vague, and it’s basically just down to who has their own independent footballing association

It’s a bit of a stretch to compare the nationhood of Gibraltar with that of the home nations though, it doesn’t enjoy the same status as them within the U.K. Gibraltar is basically just a British city in Spain.

I do think it’s worth noting that UEFA literally changed the requirements for membership after Gibraltar joined to stop it happening again. Jersey tried to join after the changes but got rejected despite being larger, self-governing and with just as distinct an identity, arguably even more so. So the other problem with Gibraltar is you create a double standard were this one particular Territory can get in but other Territories can’t. When you factor in how terrible they are it just doesn’t make any sense to include them.
