Do I need to grease or replace the latch (the latch behind the backseat that connects to the trunk)?

Car: 2019 Genesis G70 2.0 AWD - 68k miles

I had a hard time pin pointing the issue but I tested driving with the backseat down and with the backseat in standard position. It creeks when it’s up and doesn’t creek when it’s down. Only tried it twice so i’ll continue to drive with the backseat down this week to confirm the theory.

Any idea what causes this? Is it because some part of the latch system is loose or doesn’t have grease?

Where and how to you grease the area? This same thing is happening to me on my gf’s Honda Accord and it seems like the creaking noise is coming from the same area as OP

There really isn’t a video showing where and how to properly add grease. What part of the latch am I greasing?

Why can I find any instructions on this? Video or article. There is absolutely nothing in my Owner’s manual about this.

Is there another servicing manual I don’t know about?

You don’t need a video. You don’t need an article. This is not an “owners manual” sort of thing. You just do it. Grab a can of WD40 (or whatever type of lube you have laying around) and spray it on the latch (or whatever’s creaking). See if that fixes it.

(How did people ever do anything, in the olden days, before YouTube, and the internet, were invented!)
