Hello folks,

It’s Black Friday’s week and I want to buy a new smartphone to my mom. I can buy an A54 5G for ~299 € or an A34 5G for ~275 €. What do you suggest me to buy? I keep reading that the A34 CPU and overall speed are better than those in the A54.

Thanks in advance!

I have the A54, but I’d recommend the A34 for your mom. The Mediatek SoC on the A34 is as good as the A54, if not better. The displays are almost comparable. The only minor difference between the devices is the cameras but very insignificant.

A34 has a better processor but weak camera. A54 has a weak processor but better cameras. Choose wisely, but go for 256GB storage!

For your mom? I’d say A34. It has better battery life and a bigger screen. The A54 is faster, but it’s not very noticeable.

I’d go A34. But I’d keep an eye on updates and security patches for her. 2-3 years and she’ll need another phone if she does any online shopping, banking or anything else that requires sensitive information. With the A series it’ll be important for her to reboot the phone weekly as well, even the S series gets a little wonky after a week.

Bro this isnt 2017 no more. My a32 is perfectly fine you dont need to reset every week. Just buy the option with more Ram. They differ

It’s also 2023 and your battery still needs to settle in for a week, and a few years ago the fan boys said “nah-ugh” It’s still a smart phone, it will still have bugs and glitches, all of which can be remedied by a reboot. Like I said even my S22 and S23 have hiccups. “I’m buying a phone for so and so.” Just warns me that, that someone may not grasp the concept of a smart phone beyond the one UI6 skin they see on the dialer and browser is all.

It’s not to say the A is shit, it has it uses and functions, I just note the less obvious than the exynos chip and camera aren’t amazing, the software doesn’t get updated as often that’s all.

From my experience, Samsung’s cheaper phones usually slow down quicker than more expensive ones, so I’d go with the A54.
