Hi All,
I have removed my Bluetooth module which has caused a previous parasitic drain. I’ll start off with I’ve installed an aftermarket Android radio (with integrated HVAC controls) off of Ali Express and a backup camera a year ago. I don’t drive the car a lot and there are weeks (1-2) where I alternate between another car. Last week I drove to my sister’s and had no problem. When I tried to leave I was getting slow crank to the point that the battery was dead. I let it sit a few seconds and then it cranked over. Next day I test the battery charge 500CCA and it passed but stated recharge. I tested the starter as well as the alternator and they all passed using my TopDon tester.
I started looking for a parasitic draw and found it was pulling 12.5V even after 2 minutes. I pulled all of the fuses from both inside the driver’s footwell and the fuse box next to the battery. It was still pulling 5.8V. I did miss a 50A that is by itself so not sure is the cause or not. I had all of the fuses back in and pulled that one but it did not decrease. From what I was reading online I should get a startup of 5V and then it should drop so something else is wrong here.
I am going to try to pull the aftermarket radio tomorrow but does anyone else know if I missed a fuse box somewhere? The HVAC controls on this unit aren’t the greatest and the temp is not as good as the OEM, could it have gone…but it doesn’t make sense why so much of a pull in voltage.
