The player that previously held this record was Lionel Messi who was 25 when he scored his 300th goal, i genuinely think if mbappe doesn’t end up as a top 5 player ever it would be a shame

He needs to move leagues, a huge achievement nonetheless. But he wouldn’t be at 300 in the italian, English and Spanish leagues. The World Cup goals are great though.

Also haaland is gonna hit that and all in German and premier league.

And let’s not forget that Messi and Renoldo were playing in Spanish league when it was much more competitive than it is now. Regardless, as I said big achievement but would love to see him In a different / better league. Not that the French league isn’t good, it’s just that psg are so OP.

why do people say its easy to score in ligue 1 in psg when too all time players scoring rate significantly dropped after playig in ligu 1, its genuienly one of the most physical leagues in the world and defenders will not just look at you in awe when dribbling, they will tackle hard

Messi scored 22 goals in 2 years in ligue 1. Ligue 1 is bad but not “I’ll score 40 goals per year without effort bad”. Scoring against getafe is not harder than Scoring against rennes

He’s scored at a similar rate in UCL and WC games but the Spanish league and Italy would be a problem. Leagues where guys like Morata and Quagli have done bits. LMFAO

Reminds me of when you clowns would say Messi wouldn’t be as great in the PL 10 years ago

Lacazette couldn’t score more than 14 league goals for Arsenal, playing 30+ games per season. He was with us for 5 years.

Moves back to France and instantly picks up where he left off, returning to the numbers he had before we signed him, bagging himself 27 league goals at the ripe old age of 32.

If Mbappe stays in France, he will always have his doubters. Stats like the one above are exactly why. French league isn’t the PL.

He wouldn’t score 300 goals in the Spanish league playing for Madrid/Barca with Xavi/Iniesta equivalents? Come on. Be serious.

No he wouldn’t. If he goes to Real Madrid for example, he will maybe be the best player in the team. But the players around him therr will have a bigger impact on the matches than his teammates at PSG.

Yeah their impact would be to make easy chances for him to score. And his teammates would be miles better that at any “non top” club.

I feel like if he played in la liga, say for real, he’d have more. Same for Italian league.

There needs to be an asterix on all of the goal scoring records, because it really shows how rubbish the record books skew certain parts to advantage some players

Pele never left Brazil, and has the second most. Great…but as I’ve said in a different comment, even us could crawl onto those pitches and score 2 goals from no. 9

I have less respect for lewy than lots of other people. Yes, he’s one of the best of the generation…but he did it at dortmund (good call) ….Munich (basically German psg) and recently Barca….(ok nice….but real are in transition, and it’s not like he broke records in Spain)

Suarez is my perfect call, because he did it in big areas. Ajax is the Dutch psg, but LFC (just like dortmund) are the underdogs every season (shush, Man City have purchased the rights to whatever’s above that. By breaking ffp again) and are….ok I don’t know how to word this, but at LFC you’re expected to score less goals than city/united/chelsea no. 9. Yes he then went to Barca (see lewy)…but he did it in a ronaldo/Messi era and took golden boot races to the closing weeks. And yes, before anyone says lewy did it in UCL, he was THE goalscorer, 2015-22 (chewy’s years, I think) goalscorer emergency player was Messi. In a problem you had to look at Messi

Haaland and Mbappe….aren’t it. Apart from Mbappe being Mbappe (psg, and France V Gibraltar….) he at least proved he could with monaco Haaland is above Mbappe for me, he did numbers with dortmund…they’re dortmund. Yeah they’re “second” best in Germany (idk German football ok? I payed attention with Klopp) but it’s a Munich playground. They buy the oppositions best players, and just waltz to the league each year. He proved he doesn’t need a top team to score goals Admittedly…I want him to get relegated to championship…but at least at city he broke everything. Yes…he did, but it’s city guys. We overrate it because he broke records, but 1) Kane could’ve done that 2) I’d wager…yeah I’d wager i could score 5 goals in a 38 game season with that Man City and 3)it’s Man City. They would’ve won it all without him

Then ronaldo….Man U, real, juve, Portugal, and the portugese club I forgot - Lisbon. It’s ronaldo, best goalscorer in history etc etc. did it at big, small and mid teams no one can argue
