Thoughts on the aluminium tips? Does anyone use them? Is there a risk of damaging the screen? What’s the writing experience like?
I’ve switched to a Titanium nib (or so they claim). The writing is now more like a smooth fountain pen and it’s a little easier to get soft strokes. I don’t see any wear on the screen so overall I’m quite happy. I think it was like 20€ for two tips.
In the end it is different but not better or worse for me so I prefer the smooth but not glass like feel of the Ti nib. The wear on the tips was never a problem for me and I was still using the ones that came in the box when I got it about three years ago.
This question comes up often enough that I wrote a web page which has my usual response, with a detailed explanation.
TLDR: if the nib is harder than the screen, then over time the nib will slowly damage the screen, particularly the textured coating on top of the screen, so I choose not to take any chances. Plus I physically have over ten years’ worth of replacement nibs on hand, I doubt the tablets themselves are going to last that long.
