the league cup has existed for as long as i can remember, that’s not the issue, nor do i think it deserves the massive disrespect it gets, any fan other than a city fan would/should be cheering and screaming if your club wins it.

it’s more about the european competition expansions, international games etc

Remember when only the actual champion aka 1st place team went into the champions league? Even the world cup is getting so bloated.

Teams can always switch players around. Player fitness is really just self-serving nonsense by clubs that do well to pressure the rest of the league to do what they want.

Carabao cup has been away to spread money across the league. Really it’s ever expanding European and International football that is the cause of more games.

There might be too many games. I don’t think it’s down to the Carabao cup, which has ran since the 60’s. It’s more likely to be due to the expansion of European games, but clubs won’t want to reduce lucrative games. I’d change the Champion’s league to a knockout competition from the get go. Adding extra excitement and reducing games. It won’t happen due to the financial impact.

I think FIFA and UEFA need to do something about international games such as the qualifiers . Most of the injuries and stuff seem to happen during these (honestly, pointless) games

Part of that is that nations have no incentive not to play certain players. For them the only thing that matters is winning their games.

We could do with less international friendlies.

If the number of injuries is solely down to too many games then it’s down to the managers to control that. After all it’s the managers who put the players on the pitch.

A lot of the bigger teams complain about the Carabao cup but it’s the once time the sides outside the top 6 are in with a chance of winning anything. It just shows how greedy the top 6 are that they would sooner get rid of the competition than field a weakened team and have someone else win it.

The problem is that some teams overrun the opposition for 90 mins playing a frantic, dynamic style with high pressing all over the pitch - looking at you Newcastle. Fans love it because it shows ‘commitment’. The results are peaks and dips in performance and a long injury list the following season because it isn’t sustainable. Leeds and Liverpool did it recently, Newcastle are suffering this season and spurs are next. It’s the manager’s fault.

Who else thinks these clubs earn 100s of millions and should invest that into 2 squads?

The clubs are some of the richest in the world. They have plenty of analysts monitoring when players are playing so many minutes that they’re likely to get hurt. Rotate the squad more often and drop some points.
