UPS was scheduled for delivery today. My dog altered me of the truck, and I went out to see as I’m clearly a child on Christmas morning. I hear rummaging around in the truck and after a couple minutes the driver emerges from the back, into the cab, and closes the door behind him. He’s doing some tapping on his iPad thing and notices me.

I ask, “hey bro, got something for me?” He says, “I’m supposed to, but I couldn’t find it back there right now. I’ll circle back later.” I say alright, and now, hours later, the tracking page shows that the package has been delayed, for delivery Monday. Sad!

Lol. I had the same experience with the first deck. But I have insisted to look one more time. Told him the size of the box. He looked and have found it 😂

We Swedes love to hate on our postal service. PostNord, but we call them PostMord (postal murder). But reading the comments here makes me realize we don’t really have that many issues. Can’t ever remember having a packge go missing in transit.

I’m mad you got ups. When I was getting my OG it was fed ex and they kept it for 3 days before actually delivering it. They will not deliver early even if they get something early.

You must have gotten in while the order system was still spazzing out. I got my order in 24 minutes after they opened up (tried to check out at :01 but ran into issues) and scheduled for Tuesday delivery.

Made a comment about people ordering the Steam Deck Oled or new buyers of the Steam Deck.

There’s like somewhat high theft for these Steam decks because the Steam Decks ship in the same literal box it’s made. It’s the box that has a label that says what it is with a valve logo and your address and from there is the literal steam deck in the case. It’s very easy to steal these as from what I remember last year at this same time of the year, many peoples steam decks were stolen.

I’m not trying to give you a negative thought but that’s lowkey a red flag.

I hate that valve ships them in a box that says what it is. Send it in a junk box and then have the box within say your deck is here lol.

i remember in xmas 2021 when it was tough af to get an xsx or ps5. I had walmart plus and randomly got a notification they were doing a drop for walmart plus members. i said fuck it and tried to buy both of them thinking one wouldnt go through but they both did lol. Only problem was i was in the navy at that time and then we got notice we would be going underway soon for a few days right when my packages would ship. My ps5 and xsx were sitting on my porch for 3 days while i was stuck in the ocean, i was terrified lol. Luckily they didnt get stolen and i felt really good about the neighborhood i just bought a house in

I mean, not that it helps that much, but those of us who got locked out early thanks to valve apparently not giving a shit about their godawful ordering system are on hold until 2024. If we’re lucky.

So I don’t know how it works but it’s the person who loaded the truck always the same person driving the truck? Maybe that’s where it could have been “lost” and the driver genuinely didn’t know why it wasn’t there.

Hope it all works out for you OP!

I’m family with a USPS rural carrier. She pre checks, loads, and delivers all the mail and packages. As of recently, they’ve been having 15h days, but she is the same person who loads her vehicle, occasionally getting help from other drivers when they’re free.

UPS driver here. It was either loaded on the wrong car or is still in the building and didn’t get to the truck before it left. It’ll get there and you’ll love the Deck.

I appreciate you UPS Drivers, If my package is going through UPS I have little to no worries about it. Fedex though… I have had so many packages mysteriously go missing with Fedex.

One time I had ordered a fairly expensive item that was delivered by DHL. When they arrived the lady was in the back of her truck for some time. I finally went out to see what was up and she told me she was looking but couldn’t find it.

I then suggested she call the distribution center, and verify that they had my package, which they did. It was close enough, so I just drove out and picked it up myself.

She felt so bad, too. I had went and got two large Panera chicken soups to enjoy while I waited, and when it was determined that she didn’t have it, I actually have her one to make her feel better. She was so grateful as she hadn’t had lunch and was starving.

    Moral of the story.

    1. Verify exactly where your stuff is located to rule out shenanigans

    2. Be nice to the delivery people. They’re only human.

Kudos for this. I always see posts of people getting fed up by what delivery drivers do, but I feel like that just creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Pay it forward and create a more forgiving environment for them - the delivery drivers will be less stressed/annoyed and will be more likely to go the extra mile if it’s needed someday.

Of course, it would be better if they just had sufficient time allocated for their deliveries, but in the interim… just treat them humanely.

Thank you for that. This time of year, every delivery service is overloaded.
