Stopped at a local BMW dealer, wife decided the X5 is what she wants and test drove it.

We know we want the X5 50e and with certain options so sounds like it’s really an order/build.

For those who have ordered a new car before, is there any insider tips that are a need to know?

What about scummy addons by the dealer such as low jack, window tints, how does that typically go when doing an order with an allocation?

Thanks

Dealers will push for add-ons whether you’re buying off the lot or not. Just remember how to say “no” and you’re good.

As far as wait times, you can expect about 4-7 weeks wait time for a new X5 depending on where you are in relation to Spartanburg, SC. If you’re indecisive like me, there’s a period between the order being submitted and the vehicle getting its production number where you can make changes to your order. I did that when ordering my 45e earlier this year.

I would encourage you to pick the wheels you like the best regardless of the tire it comes with. IIRC, the larger rims are only about $600 option from the factory but come with performance tires, so if you’re in a climate that gets rain & snow, you’ll have to swap in some all-seasons/winters. However, it will still end up being cheaper than buying an entirely new set of rims & tires down the road, and you can sell the performance tires as new.

Other than that, the Harman Kardon audio is 100% worth it. Happy shopping!
