I just traded in for a new phone. I’ve been using my new one for the past few days and it’s been working fine. Today it just suddenly turned off and I can’t get it back on. It was charging all night and was at 90% just 10 minutes ago. What’s going on? My dad keeps insisting that it’s dead but it doesn’t show it’s charging when I plug it in.

hold volume up and power till you see Android Recovery, then choose wipe cache partition then choose repair apps should boot to home screen.

it could be because of a recent update that encountered a fatal error.

Was there a sun flare or something? My electronics are acting up too. First my iPhone was doing the same thing your s23 is doing, wouldn’t turn on and wouldn’t behave like it was charging. Luckily there was a special startup sequence that fixed it, pressing volume up, volume down, and then holding the on button. Check to see if yours has some kind of reset sequence like that. Then, apps on my computer that usually are fine just went to hell. Just out of the blue.
