First of all, I know absolutely nothing about all this terminology on this sub. I know what a router is, and I know what wifi is.

Currently, my router is on the 2nd floor, (out of 3 floors, so it’s not on the top floor of the house), and my PlayStation is in the basement. 80-90% of the time I have terrible internet for games down there (scrolling Instagram or YouTube works fine)

I also have 1 of those google wifi devices plugged into the wall on each floor (so 4 in total). I think they’re extensions?

How do I get getter internet down there? With Black Friday coming up maybe I can save some money if I’m buying something (a new router?)

Explain like I’m 5, I’ll buy whatever works

Imagine you want a drink of water. What is best: going outside in the rain and opening your mouth up to catch drops, or turning on a water faucet? WiFi is like rain, Ethernet is like a faucet.

Yeah, you should get a wired connection. Wifi will be inferior to wired ethernet in almost all situations.

If it’s impossible to get a wired connection, then you could look into things like Powerline Ethernet Adapters, a WiFi repeater or WiFi Extender, or a WiFi mesh setup.

I don’t use any of those, but those are some terms/devices you could look into
