Hello,

I’m currently using the S20 FE & I was thinking of jumping to the S22 because of the smaller size.

I never game on the phone & sparingly use the cameras.

My current usage is mainly social media apps, Netflix & YouTube with total screen time of around 5 hours.

S23 is out of the question as it is currently twice as expensive in my country.

Please leave your thoughts.

If you think your current phone is still usable I would personally wait for the s24 series to come out so you can snag the s23 for cheaper

You can snag S23 cheaper… only if his target storage is still available by that time. Most of the time, the base version that’s available is 512GB above, in this case, base S22 is still cheaper.

Acting like a flagship being 2 years old is a bad thing in this day and age is pretty silly.

I’m using an s10 plus, a 4 year old phone. The battery is fine, everything works fine. Now compare this experience to a phone 4 years older than the s10, the same cannot be said AT ALL. My s7 edge, even with literally everything removed and used as an ipod mp3 player device, is sluggish to do literally anything, even when im doing basic things like texting with airplane mode on.

My s10 on the other hand, feels basically the same as the s22u I used for a short bit. Besides the vibration motor and faster refreshrate for the keys on the keyboard, it’s basically the same and that’s the same 3 year difference doing the same basic task in fluidness. And if you’re not doing dumb things online, security updates really aren’t a terrible thing to loose if you get it at tge right price.

you are using a 4 years old phone that has run its course and is considered end of life at this point with zero security patches. Just because you do it, it doesn’t mean that you are a good example to set. The S22 will run out of support presumably 5 years post release, so you buy it new now and it only have 3 years left of support, like the shitty chinese spyphones. It better be in serious price-cut to make it valuable as a 3 year to keep phone.

I would suggest waiting or saying up until you can get the s23. Or wait till s24 is released then get the s23. The chip bump is much appreciated. And it will last longer as well. And sd865 is a beast and will run great for a couple of months no issues there. I’m upgrading my dad’s s20fe to the s23 for the same reason to upgrade. I was thinking s23fe but the chip heats and that’s the same chip that’s on the s22. So I would suggest against it.

With your current usage, if I’ll convert your usual SOT with S22, it will be around 3.5 hours, that’s with the assumption you’re always on WiFi. With mobile data, it’ll be halved.

Stick with the S20. I highly doubt you will experience any much improvement with the S22.

Unless you URGENTLY need the phone, might as well wait until S24 comes out to get either the S22 or S23. They are not any significant upgrades, and other than the 30g weight saving you won’t see that great an improvement. S23 is probably going to give you a slightly longer battery life, but nowadays it takes just 1 quick recharge and your phone is good to go again.

Have you considered a54 or a53? They are almost the same except for the chip but it should be a comparable experience.
