I’m not sure where else to ask this, but I’ve always loved working on cars. Idk why, just something about it makes my little heart soar like I’m flying. It’s the best thing ever to me. I’ve been thinking of getting my diploma for automotive technician. I have a pretty decent basic knowledge of cars, I do all the work on mine (it’s a Dodge unfortunately). I don’t know the jargon completely, or the difference in 1/4, 1/2 drive etc, stuff like that. Obviously I know the difference between the sizes, just don’t wanna look stupid trying to figure out what to you use in front of someone else. I’m also not very good at math either. I don’t wanna start something I can’t finish, but I feel like this is really my passion. I mean, I replaced an ‘05 Lexus water pump in the middle of winter 8 1/2 months pregnant and didn’t even mess the timing up. Is it hard to learn the things necessary to be successful in this career? Does it just happen naturally as you go? How do I know if I’m really cut out for this work? I really appreciate any help y’all can give.
None of us really know anything at first, we have to learn it first. Well, at first we only know eating, pooping, & crying. We have to learn to eat (chew), talk, walk, etc.
If this interests you, go to school and learn it. By the time you finish, you will have a much better idea whether you want to keep doing it or not. If you decide it isn’t for you, you are not required to stay with it forever.
