I’m talking barebones. Tetris. Picross-like. Something that requires very little thought and is addictive.
For background, the reason I’m asking is because I recently read that researchers found that participants in a study on traumatic events saw that people who played tetris during their recovery had less traumatic response/activation over time? I’m currently going through a pretty traumatic time in life and am just looking for games that activate my lizard brain to forget about the hard times for a little while. Thanks in advance.
Vampire Survivors
Mixolumia! It’s very similar to Tetris with an amazing soundtrack and pretty graphics for a pixel game imo, runs great on the deck too of course.
Plant V Zombies
WAVES, I’ve spent so many hours playing this while watching less-than-immersive tv shows. Several different game mods, plays flawlessly on the deck.
Brogue. Vampire Survivors. Original Mario games.
Perhaps Hades? It’s simple, you pretty much only use 3 buttons, funny and endlessly replayable.
Dead cells
The Powder Toy works well on SD, and WorldBox is a fun simulator game.
Tetris Connected or w/e it was called is good, if just a tad small on the Deck.
HoloCure - it’s a Vampire Survivors-like based on a property I’m not familiar with. That said it’s a free fan made game (no micro transactions) you can download on steam. I prefer it to any of the survivor contemporaries I’ve tried.
Try out Tricky Towers if you want Tetris with a twist :-)
Man speaking of Tetris…I’m really curious to see how Tetris Effect looks on that OLED screen. I remember getting super stoned the first time I played it on my big screen and I was just in absolute awe lmao
Anybody know if its HDR works on the SD OLED?

The original Centipede is still my favorite videogame!
I didn’t see it listed so Celeste, precision platformer. It’s challenging but simple in concept.
Another vamp survivors like is Boneraiser Minions.
