I have around 70ish thousand after splitting my total budget in half to include upgrades, taxes, track classes, consumables, etc… so that leaves me deciding between the new Corvette Stingray either 23 or 24 model and a lower end Cayman (The 2.0l) this is mostly going to be for backroad driving and track days but also would like to daily it sort of often, not over doing it. Just not sure how much power is in the 2.0l especially while be compared to the Vette. But definitely some mountain driving is at the top of the list for whichever car I go with.
I don’t know much but have you considered a used cayman 4.0?
The 2.0L has 300 Hp vs 465 for the Vette. Both are outstanding road and track cars! If you buy a new Corvette you will be getting a warranty which may not be there for a used 718. Expensive cars are expensive when they break and if you are tracking them they will break! If you buy the Vette… great! If you buy the Porsche get an extended warranty.
Ok
Friend just went through this. Got a 2020 Cayman and loves it. Had several corvettes before. Said the Cayman is just a better drivers car and more fun. If you want raw speed/power the vette has it beat, but for joy of driving, usability, and just fun, he said cayman was the correct choice and he is glad he made it. I went from vette to 911 and my only regret is why I didn’t do it 10 years ago.
I’d try to get a used GTS 4.0 or maybe even GT4. I’ve seen GT4s in good condition sell for ~75k
2016?? Pretty old vs a 2020+
Yeah but that doesn’t matter… the car isn’t that different
Manual or PDK Cayman? I had a manual 2.0L and did not enjoy the experience. Also, unless you get the extended leather option, the interior of a base model cayman is very cheap feeling after the newness of the car wears off…does not feel like a $70K car, more like a $25K VW Passat.
