I love you, I truly do. You created a device that was just objectively better and had to have cost more money to make but didnt raise the price a single penny, in fact you even lowered the price. I don’t think anyone understands how unheard of that is in the tech and gaming industry and it’s obviously because they know we’re gonna spend twice as much on games for the deck, but valve still kept the prices the same. I cannot wait to see what you have in store for this devices next iteration but I can say, please feel free to take your time with it and understand that as long as you continue this respect and care for your fan base we will always support and contribute to your company, thank you from gamers everywhere(except Australia, hopefully you can work on that lol) Thank you Valve! Cant wait for my oled steam deck to come in!

Cuse, they are a razor company. They make a really nice shaver and sell it for cheap. They don’t care if they take a minor loss on it. The loss doesn’t matter they are going to make money hand over fist as you buy razor blades for your shaver. (Games)

I pay pennies for my shavibg blades. Double edge safety razor for the win!

Much better shave than this multi-blade nonsense.

Valve is exactly why successful companies should never go public. Think about what Blizzard and other great developers could be today if they didn’t sell out. Kudos to Gabe and the crew for remembering the importance of their customers and always doing right by them/us.

If Valve really just wanted to milk us dry, they could have churned out a v1.5 with the OLED screen and very little else improved, possibly even cheaping out on some parts that they previously didn’t before. Never a fan of black and white takes. Seeing the teardowns and reviews, it’s clear they went above and beyond to deliver something that could really tide you over for a while, and the continued support means they remain invested in helping to make Linux a relevant OS for gaming, as well as expanding the demand for portable PCs. It’s not an altruistic endeavour, but a relation where both the company and the consumers are generally content is a pretty healthy dynamic. It could be a lot more take and a lot less give, as we’ve seen from other companies, both on the hardware and software side.

And the fact that they permanently lowered further the price of an older version device (though not that old and outdated) is a power move. Fuck Nintendo and Sony.

I wasn’t a pc user before I had a steam deck. I didn’t know much about valve either as I’ve been a console gamer all my life.

With that being said, valve has been my favorite company to give my money to for the past 2 years. They’ve been just awesome to every detail about the steam deck and the whole ecosystem.

I guess I love ‘em too.

People are so bitter. Yes, it’s business, but what do you expect? For them to send personal love letters to their customers? I feel too like they’re doing really well with their communication and how they offer repair service, warranty (even when upgraded the ssd!) Etc. I never heard a company being praised so much for offering such an afforadble handheld pc.

The glass is half full, people are happy, Valve did great and sometimes it’s great to also communicate just that. How are some almost discouraging OP for being too happy? 🤔

OP will send a love letter to a business though.
