As title says, what’s the best way to use emulation on the steam deck? I’ve been doing some research and seen emudeck is the simplest. What are some other options people are using? Are there any shortcomings? Better for some consoles vs others?
I don’t want the rims and/or emulators bogging down my all 400+ game Steam Library. Isn’t it possible to just use RetroArch and the few other standalone emulators in desktop mode?
I use retrodeck, which uses emulation station as a front end by default. In my library all there is to click is retrodeck, and after that launches you pick your system.
Okay so it depends on how you want things set up.
-
If you wanted integrated with Steam OS (you can access them from your game menu), then emudeck is a fantastic choice.
-
If you want a stand alone option, I think you can create a bootable batocera/emulation station SD card/drive to keep all your games separate.

Emudeck that’s all you need YouTube it
Emudeck has been amazing, so much easier then the android setup I had before. Highly recommend, a little harder on the customization but the out of box setting are solid.
Emudeck made everything so easy… I tried doing a manual setup, and retrodeck, I just couldn’t justify the effort needed.
