Good evening or morning where ever my fellow redditors are,
I’ve been looking at upgrading my provided ISP router to a Asus RT-AX89X AX6000, Due to it’s 2.5 ports and 2 10 ports, but I have no clue if it is a solid pick or not, if not recommendations would be nice
My home network consists off a NAS and 3 other pcs wired, and then some philips hue and a few tvs
what speeds is your ISP providing you?
Do your PCs and NAS have the capability of utilizing the higher speed ports?
Are there router settings that you want to be able to adjust that you currently can’t?
Is the only reason so that you can achieve faster connection speeds between your NAS and PCs?I’ve had good luck with ASUS routers. The mesh is really easy to set up. Other people have had complaints, so your mileage may vary.
Throwing all your traffic through the router is to be avoided if you can. Especially if it’s an ISP provided cheapo. Get yourself a nice switch with extra APs if needed. TP link Omada is great. Think unifi but sensibly priced.
