I was watching some all-time XI’s by former footballers and analysists and was asking to myself: “Did football start in the 90’s for these people?”

I understand that people will always be biased towards the players that they got to experience and have an attachment to, but do you think that players from the old era like Eusebio, Rivera, Meazza, Di Stefano, Etc… are underrated compared to modern legends?

No one ever comes off a pitch dirty anymore.

The ball, the pitches, the crowds, the diets, the training schedules, the data, the nurturing - it’s all too perfect to create a player to perform at the highest standard.

Pre 90s you just had to be amazing in less than ideal conditions to succeed.

If Pele, Maradona, Eusebio, Beckenbauer etc had Messi and Ronaldo’s support and conditions they would have been even bigger gods.
