So I’ve been debating this, should I stick with my stem deck or get a new upgrade. I really just want something with windows and a better screen and battery. Currently looking at the legion but not really sure.

There’s nothing better than the Steam Deck OLED. It is a better os than Windows and kills the alternatives for battery life and screen.

If you prefer Windows and better performance, and don’t mind being connected to a power outlet all the time, choose the Rog Ally. However, if you want a more portable device and a console-like experience, then the Steam Deck is for you.

Well, the best screen and battery is the new SD OLED. You can install windows on the SD if you really want to use it instead of SteamOS.

Those other devices are not better battery, you’re playing plugged in due to its massive juice pull. At which point just play on your pc.

That said, if you only play AAA games than for sure get one of those. If you play some AAA but mostly indies or older titles SD is the clear favourite.

I would go watch some YouTube reviews from popular creators, you’ll learn a lot more there than any reply.

Legion Go has the closest screen when it comes to vibrancy vs SD OLED according to Russ from RGC + you can install Windows on a external SSD ( which I’m thinking of doing + watch his review he does a quick comparison with the screens ) on the SD and still keep SteamOS .

If had to pick a pure Windows handheld I would probably buy the ALLY over the Go personally but plan on having the best of both worlds and using my OLED SD with SteamOS internally and making a external SSD to run Windows.

I own a ROG Ally and steam deck OLED. I bought the original steam deck and loved it. Then along came the ROG Ally which I bought strictly for Windows. I love the Ally but I missed steam OS and the community support that comes with steam deck. So when the steam deck OLED came along I jumped on it. Couldn’t be happier. I still own and enjoy the Ally but steam deck is my go to. Somewhere in the middle there I bought the legion go as well. Returned it in a week. Felt sluggish and sound was horrendous due to the upfiring speakers. May have enjoyed it if I spent more time playing with settings but I wasn’t into it and couldn’t find much support online.

I have the ROG Ally coming from the original Steam Deck. Had a black screen issue with the SD that I didn’t resolve and since I am located somewhere Valve does not do service or RMA, I just fave it away to my brother in law, I’ll let him deal with it.

I was not going to get another handheld because of my disappointing experience with the Deck, but when I saw a sample unit of the Ally in our local gadget boutique I was surprised with the weight, the compactness, and the overall look of it. Bought one a week ago and despite the annoying updates and tweaks, I finally got it in its current playable form.

I have to admit, though, I had a G14 and am quite familiar with AMD software, Windows 11, and Armoury Crate. So it was relatively easy for me to break in the Ally.
