A/C stopped blowing cold air after a short while the engine light turned on and the temperature pin maxed out suggesting it was overheating… coolant still full, oil levels just fine. Any ideas?
Your AC compressor clutch could be seized. When it seizes up it can cause binding issues on your engine. Also it could be a head gasket on its way out that’s causing the overheating.
Knowing what type of car (Make/Model/Year) might help. And knowing some more about the circumstances (did this overheating happen suddenly, while you were driving or stationary, etc.) might help too.
But (if it happened suddenly, while you were driving normally) a stuck closed thermostat would be one likely cause, so the coolant isn’t circulating from the engine to the radiator. But check the serpentine belt is still in place, and is still turning the water pump (if the belt turns the water pump on your car).
