I want to believe that this is out of concern for the safety of the referees rather than anything more sinister.
That said, they desperately need to improve the use of VAR. This nonsense of only changing decisions that are ‘clear and obvious errors’ has to end. If it’s a wrong call - even if it’s only a little bit wrong, tell the fucking ref to have a second look.
