Hey everyone,

So I just bought a brand new Galaxy S23 the other day. With just the stock device, the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner seems to do a great job, very accurate! Problem is, I wanted to install a sturdy tempered glass screen protector on the phone screen, but this greatly reduced the fingerprint scanner’s accuracy. I basically have to press harder and for longer, in addition to having to make sure my whole thumb is in direct contact with the screen!

Does anyone know if Samsung’s own screen protector would be a better choice, and it would perhaps be more optimized for stuff like this?

Thank you!

Most glass screen protectors will have this effect. It’s just physics. Film protectors fair much better.

One way to minimise the effect is to re-do your fingerprints. It helps to a certain degree.
